The right DJ for your wedding.

Great wedding DJ

Hiring the right DJ for your wedding. For most couples planning their wedding will be the first time, they have to hire a DJ. This can also be a very frustrating task. It does not have to be that way if you know the right questions to ask.

For most couples that are in the process of planning their wedding reception it will be the first time they will have a need to hire a DJ.

So the question is for what is un-arguably going to be one of the most important day of your life, a day that you have been dreaming of and will probably spend about a year and a half planning and making preparations for it. Who are you going to hire for your wedding day DJ?

The DJ is one of the most noticeable aspects of a wedding reception. A good DJ can and will make your wedding reception a truly memorable experience. By the same token a bad DJ can totally ruin your wedding day.

For most couples trying to hire a good DJ can be a major source of frustration. Here is a list of questions you should ask, and what should you be concerned with your DJ.

Before meeting with your DJ, determine what you want your wedding reception to look like. What is the experience you want your guest to have? What is the vibe you want to create? For some couples is just a big party, for other is a very classy formal affair and for others is somewhere in between. You also need to determine your wants and needs.

For the average couple that is getting married and the ceremony will be taking place at the same location as the wedding reception. Your needs are a sound system with microphones for the ceremony, the DJ main sound system for the reception and maybe a sound system for the cocktail hour. Those are your needs. Things like up lighting, monogram, photo booths ETC are wants and will fall under the decoration budget.

The next thing is determining the experience of the DJ you are considering. Find out how many wedding have they done, look for on-line reviews in places like WeddingWire & The Knot.

When you contact the DJ try to avoid asking the most common and logical question to you which is, “How much do you charge for a wedding?” That’s like calling a restaurant and asking, “How much does it cost to eat there?” The answer is going to be depends on what you order.

Ask better questions and you will avoid feeling frustrated by not getting the information that you are in need of. Once you done your homework on the DJ the first thing you need to find out is if they have your date open. Then you would want to schedule a meeting face to face if possible. Here is where you will find out about the DJ personality. You are going to determine if their personality is something you can work with and get along with. You are also going to determine their level of professionalism. Do they have an office? Or are you meeting in a coffee shop?

Unfortunately there are no pre-set requirements to become a DJ! Any one can purchase any type of sound equipment, download music, hopefully from a legal medium and call them selves a DJ. Those are the ones you want to try to stay away from.

Staying in budget is important, so don’t under budget for your DJ and you will be guarantied that your wedding reception will go exactly as you wanted.
