It’ supposed to be fun for everyone involved, brides, grooms, parents, family, friends! And the best weddings today are the ones that focus on weddings being fun!

Fun, is not a button one presses and BOOM the fun appears. In fact, many of the most fun weddings had a few things in and common, and I’m going to share these with you!

MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT

I mean seriously, this one should be a no brainer. But yet couples flop on this all the time.

Good music that ALL GUEST can dance to is very important to keep a party going! Couples have lots of different taste in music, but make sure not to keep one style of music all night. It becomes bland.

Make sure to have high energy songs and a little bit of everything to accommodate all your guests taste.

Here are a couple tips to make sure you have a full dance floor the entire night:

1.   As the couple of the night, you need to be the first ones on the dance floor, if you don’t dance your guest will not dance.

2.   Make sure the bar is near the dance floor, it’s obvious that a cocktail(s) can lower one’s inhibitions and that can really help to have a great party

3.   Hire an experience, rocking DJ. The best wedding DJs know how to keep the energy up and can read a crowd. Trust me, you will thank us later.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Want people to dance? Make sure you give them good food and drinks!

Wedding food has come a long way, good bye to those boring wedding meals of chicken, fish, steak. We have seen it all, action station, stellar buffet options. Even a traditional plated dinner can come with some fusion inspired cooking that will leave your taste buds wanting more. Whatever you do, make sure the food is on point!

Same goes with the bar, chao to the days of the 75 year old bartender that serves run down coke and rum. Bars have evolved, hire a banging mixologist that can create a signature drink that reflects the two of you. (Side note: I’ve tried some of these concoctions! Holy Cow I’ve never been disappointed)

You don’t have to go too crazy and it can be super simple. Just make sure it’s fun and a reflection of you as a couple and you’ll be good.

Here are some ideas we have seen at weddings that have been their own rock stars at weddings:

–       Pizza Stations

–       Pretzel & Beer Tap Bars

–       Donut Stations

–       Ceviche Stations

Party Rocking late night? Add some late-night food, you know drinking, partying always leads to late night munchies! Your guest will praise you!

-Sliders, Cuban Pastries & Cortadito, Arepas, how about breakfast?  YUMMY!

KEEP THE VIBE ALIVE

Now we know some wedding traditions are timeless, but when it comes to creating a fun environment, it’s best not to break up the party with long, drawn out traditions (looking at you, cake cutting, or throwing flowers). While we understand some people need traditional stuff, sometimes it can break up a really fun party — and we all know it’s hard to get people back up once there are down.

Plan out your wedding ceremony and reception and really think about how long each thing will take: ceremony, photos, introduction, traditional dance, throwing of the bouquet/garter, cake cutting, toasts, etc. Add it up, those events can easily eat up hours of an event. Wouldn’t you rather be partying with your family and friends?

Nothing is right nor wrong here, just something to think about.

SURPRISES

Everyone loves surprises! Really! People love the element of surprise, and your wedding is the best place to do this!

Want to have some LED Robots spraying your guests with CO2? Do it! People love this!. Confetti Launch? We are totally on board.

Whatever you decide to do, think about the guests experience, what would they totally love? And not expect at all? Fireworks? Sparkler Send Off? How about just a bottle of champagne bouncing to the last song in your wedding dress!

All of these are great ideas and are bound to get some awesome reactions and pictures!

However you envision your wedding, we’re here to help keep the party alive and fun! We have provided wedding services for hundreds of fun weddings and have some great insight into how to make yours really great!

Great wedding DJ

Hiring the right DJ for your wedding. For most couples planning their wedding will be the first time, they have to hire a DJ. This can also be a very frustrating task. It does not have to be that way if you know the right questions to ask.

For most couples that are in the process of planning their wedding reception it will be the first time they will have a need to hire a DJ.

So the question is for what is un-arguably going to be one of the most important day of your life, a day that you have been dreaming of and will probably spend about a year and a half planning and making preparations for it. Who are you going to hire for your wedding day DJ?

The DJ is one of the most noticeable aspects of a wedding reception. A good DJ can and will make your wedding reception a truly memorable experience. By the same token a bad DJ can totally ruin your wedding day.

For most couples trying to hire a good DJ can be a major source of frustration. Here is a list of questions you should ask, and what should you be concerned with your DJ.

Before meeting with your DJ, determine what you want your wedding reception to look like. What is the experience you want your guest to have? What is the vibe you want to create? For some couples is just a big party, for other is a very classy formal affair and for others is somewhere in between. You also need to determine your wants and needs.

For the average couple that is getting married and the ceremony will be taking place at the same location as the wedding reception. Your needs are a sound system with microphones for the ceremony, the DJ main sound system for the reception and maybe a sound system for the cocktail hour. Those are your needs. Things like up lighting, monogram, photo booths ETC are wants and will fall under the decoration budget.

The next thing is determining the experience of the DJ you are considering. Find out how many wedding have they done, look for on-line reviews in places like WeddingWire & The Knot.

When you contact the DJ try to avoid asking the most common and logical question to you which is, “How much do you charge for a wedding?” That’s like calling a restaurant and asking, “How much does it cost to eat there?” The answer is going to be depends on what you order.

Ask better questions and you will avoid feeling frustrated by not getting the information that you are in need of. Once you done your homework on the DJ the first thing you need to find out is if they have your date open. Then you would want to schedule a meeting face to face if possible. Here is where you will find out about the DJ personality. You are going to determine if their personality is something you can work with and get along with. You are also going to determine their level of professionalism. Do they have an office? Or are you meeting in a coffee shop?

Unfortunately there are no pre-set requirements to become a DJ! Any one can purchase any type of sound equipment, download music, hopefully from a legal medium and call them selves a DJ. Those are the ones you want to try to stay away from.

Staying in budget is important, so don’t under budget for your DJ and you will be guarantied that your wedding reception will go exactly as you wanted.
